Trams Overhead Lines Monitoring System



A tram breaks down once every 2 weeks due to issues with electrical lines, causing delays, traffic and many unhappy commuters in Brussels. The objective of this project was to anticipate and detect problems on the lines in real time.


In collaboration with STIB and Bagaar, we developed an innovative monitoring system to help detect issues with electrical lines before they lead to breakdowns, based on a custom AI driven camera system. The system allows the maintenance staff to monitor the state of the electrical lines in near real time, allowing them to build a better, more sustainable public transport system in Brussels.
