Romain Vandepopeliere

Romain joined B12 consulting as an Associate in October 2025.

He holds a Master’s degree in Physics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where he also completed a PhD in Mathematical Physics. His doctoral research was rooted in quantum field theory, focusing on the global aspects of gauge theories through the lens of supersymmetry and generalized symmetries. Alongside his PhD, Romain pursued a second Master’s degree in Data Science, also at ULB. During this program, he developed a strong interest in machine learning, which he applied during an internship in the neuroimaging lab at Erasme Hospital.

Romain enjoys tackling complex problems and is driven by a deep curiosity and a desire to keep learning. He approaches artificial intelligence with an analytical mindset, combining rigorous problem-solving skills with a critical perspective on data-driven solutions. He is particularly interested in understanding how AI systems can be designed and applied in ways that are both ethical and transparent.

Outside of work, Romain is passionate about sports; whether it’s practicing, watching, or analyzing performance, especially in endurance disciplines such as running and cycling. He also enjoys reading, playing chess, spending time with friends, and occasionally testing his music trivia skills in blind tests.
